PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program

The University of Missouri Health Care postgraduate year one (PGY1) Community-based Pharmacy residency program will facilitate the development of leaders and educators in outpatient pharmacy practice. The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the American Pharmacist Association (APhA).

Our graduates will demonstrate excellence in direct patient care and have the confidence and skills to improve the health of patients within the communities they serve.

As a part of an academic health-system, with an established residency infrastructure, we offer our residents a broad array of experiences within diverse patient care settings. Our program provides innovative opportunities for community outreach and fosters collaboration to improve patient outcomes across the continuum of care.

PGY1 Community-Based Program Purpose

The PGY1 Community-based residency at University of Missouri Health Care builds upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop community‐based pharmacist practitioners with diverse patient care, leadership, and education skills who are eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies and professional certifications.

Eligibility

To qualify for the PGY1 Community-based residency program, you must:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited college or school of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Be licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Missouri
