MU Health Care Chief Nursing Officer Mary Beck, DNP, RN, will be inducted into the 2021 American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) fellow designation program.

The fellow designation recognizes sustained contributions to nursing leadership, commitment to service and influence in shaping health care. Nurse leaders who attain this honor have and will continue to provide their expertise at both regional and national levels through training and mentorship.

“Dr. Beck is the embodiment of how nurses play a leadership role in our health care culture,” said Richard Barohn, MD, executive vice chancellor for health affairs at the University of Missouri. “She is committed to ensuring that our nurses are placed in positions of responsibility from the patient care unit to the executive suite. I am proud to call her a colleague.”

“One of the keys to providing high quality patient care is a strong commitment to developing outstanding nurses,” said Jonathan Curtright, MU Health Care Chief Executive Officer. “Dr. Beck’s leadership has played a critical role in MU Health Care’s ability to save and improve lives.”

The AONL is a national organization of more than 10,000 nurse leaders. Since 1967, the organization has provided professional development, advocacy and research to advance nursing leadership practice and patient care.

“I am honored to join an esteemed group of fellows, and I look forward to sharing the skills and best practices I’ve gained from my time at MU Health Care and throughout my career with others in the nursing field and health care,” Beck said.

AONL will honor Beck and the other nine inductees at its annual conference in July.
