MU Health Care leaders announced today that Broadway Urgent Care, an independently operated walk-in clinic at 2003 West Broadway, Suite 100, in Columbia, will join the academic health system and become a second Mizzou Urgent Care location.

“More and more patients are choosing Mizzou Urgent Care, and we are committed to improving access so patients get the right care in the right place at the right time,” said Jonathan Curtright, chief executive officer for MU Health Care. “We are pleased to be able to grow our scope to serve our community and provide our patients with an additional location where they can receive efficient, convenient, high-quality care. Increasing urgent care access translates into an even greater capacity in our emergency departments to provide care for patients with life-threatening injuries and illnesses.”

Mizzou Urgent Care offers walk-in care for adults and children needing X-ray and lab testing for urgent, but not life-threatening conditions. MU Health Care currently has one Mizzou Urgent Care location at 3916 S. Providence Road, where around 2,500 patient visits happen each month, and three Mizzou Quick Care locations at Hy-Vee stores in Columbia.

MU Health Care intends to retain all Broadway Urgent Care employees, pending successful completion of routine pre-employment checks. Providers practicing at the location will be employed by the MU School of Medicine. As Broadway Urgent Care transitions to the MU Health Care family, the clinic will be closed for a brief transition period, beginning March 14, 2020. The clinic will open as Mizzou Urgent Care early this summer and will operate 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

“As part of an academic health system, our doctors and clinicians are on the leading edge of health care, whether they see patients in our hospitals or in our urgent care clinics,” said Matt Robinson, MD, chair for the School of Medicine’s Department of Emergency Medicine and medical director at the University Hospital Emergency Medicine Department. “Our patients benefit from all the resources and expertise of MU Health Care — while having the added convenience of evening, weekend and holiday hours.”
