Making the Transition

Our new Children’s Hospital and Birthing Center are scheduled to open in summer of 2024, but some services have already moved to temporary locations throughout our campus on Hospital Drive, including:

Pediatric Emergency Services

Our Children’s ER has relocated to University Hospital — offering the same expert care in a new and expanded kid-friendly space. At this time, we are only moving our pediatric services. Pregnant women needing emergency care should continue to go to Women’s Hospital.

Pediatric Inpatient Services

Any pediatric services requiring an overnight stay in the hospital or an ICU level of care will be relocated to University Hospital. This new space includes kid-friendly rooms and offers all of the same expert pediatric care and services as before, including our child life specialists and therapy animals.

Pediatric Surgeries and Procedures

All surgeries and procedures will be performed at University Hospital. After each surgery or procedure, patients will recover in our relocated pediatric inpatient unit with access to our pediatric specialists.

Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Unit

The Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Unit has relocated to Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, which is located in University Hospital.

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

The Pediatric ICU will be relocated to University Hospital. This new space includes kid-friendly rooms and offers all of the same expert pediatric care and services as before, including our child life specialists and therapy animals. Neonatal ICU (NICU) services will move to the new Children's Hospital in 2024.
